Thus Saith the Lord, “I will be sanctified…” – Part 2

October 27, 2011

. . . the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me – Leviticus 10:3

Preference. We find ourselves amidst a cacophony of “worship” preferences with folks who sincerely desire to worship, but are sincerely wrong in their form. Some say guitars, drums, and bands are perfectly appropriate. Others say that there should only be a single piano or organ in the mix. Some scream “Praise songs!,” whilst others clamor for “hymns.” All of these outcries, conflicts, and petitions are founded upon a false assumption, and a dead foundation; namely, that worshipers somehow have a God-given right to implement their choices or preferences as to how they would “come nigh” unto God. This, however, does not obtain, Scripturally.

God is zealous for His Worship. He is very protective, adamant, precise, and demanding as to how He will be worshiped – and rightly so, for He is the Lord God Who reigns and rules. It was previously said that all the sincerity, zeal, “passion,” and right intent in the world (or should I say hearts of men?) cannot make for right worship without also having God’s prescription as to proper form. Human preference has no say into the elements of God’s Worship for it is God alone Who May decide how He is to be worshiped, if it is to be, in fact, right worship. Hence his justified statement to Aaron concerning the loss of his sons who took matters into their own hands

I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me.

God does have a prescription for how He is to be worshiped. However, to understand this prescription we must pull ourselves from the cloud of confusion so pervasive in this day. We must be willing to admit that maybe, just maybe, the practices of the majority of Churches in this day and age are wrong. I think that such can be shown to be true by examining just a few (amongst many) texts of Scripture, along with the understanding of the first few Commandments of God’s Law. I do not pretend to enhance upon what many godly men have laid down well in the past. I would, however, like to give a presentation to those who have never been exposed to such doctrine, as I believe it to be biblical truth.

As we embark on what it is that makes for right worship, let us be mindful, in the very least, that our petty, human, and finite preferences have no place in the manner by which we are to draw nigh unto God. See you soon, Lord willing . . .
